and bought the 'TRIPLE CHEESEBURGER'. When I got it, I was disappointed to find it was just a bun with three patties and three slices of cheese. Not sure what I was expecting, tbh.

But, yes, to the layperson who doesn't take an interest in the intricacies of the McDonalds menu, they're just large(ish) cheeseburgers. Hence, the Mac Jr is just a cheeseburger - I reckon most people would put lettuce in a cheeseburger, and burger buns tend to be topped with sesame seeds.
I'm sorry I can't get as excited about their special sauce as you, mongy, or their marketing department.
