Get this:
I changed the bulb, just for peace of mind, and the light came on straight away.

The replaced bulb also works in other fittings (and so, I assume, does the one it replaced too)...

So I'm thinking that momentarily breaking the bathroom light circuit (by removing the bulb) somehow dissipated the charge that was... ...preventing the electricity from flowing(?) oh I've got no fucking idea.

Might make a synth out of the fan timer later.
