it works like this: the vents don't get mouldy, and they pass that advantage on to the rest of the wardrobe. trickle vent economics innit.

I was told the German custom was to do it in the morning and evening,
I just do it in the mornings as it is already too cold in the evenings in my poorly inuslated place.
