and also responsive on mobile - please add any feedback / problems to this thread to we can see it.
And thanks to Ferret for this work!
Check out the front page.
We also plan to make other areas of the site easier to use on mobile too.

Looks good, cheers for not changing the 'feel' of it at the same time
People moan that the site looks dated but I'd much rather have grey stripes that load quickly than the 'Windows 8' layout that BBC News and everyone else now seem to be going for

yes exactly
we don't want to change how it looks, just make it work a bit better considering that many people use a mixture of phones & tablets as well as desktop to look at websites these days.
Although I do wonder about font size - I'm writing this on a nice big monitor and the font size is a bit squinty

woohoo!
Of course if I'd known fucklift.co.uk was being built I could have just used their code.

I was amsued that fucklift was modern enough to have the og:image stuff built in
so it posted on Facebook with a nice little screenshot

I should probably look into that for b3ta
we could goatse everyone on the sly

we deffo should stick in stuff like og:image
less keen on goatse for obvious enough reasons

og:image?
I've just tried to find out what og:image is. I gave up at "rich object in a social graph".
I think I'm getting old. I remember thinking the marquee tag was cool when it came out...

Dunno about feedback, but a minor problem that I've always found annoying...
Because replies have a standard indent, and the text wraps at the right edge, in a long argument the line length gets progressively shorter until it is an unreadable vertical line of single words, for example b3ta.com/board/11142523
I suppose the only way to combat this is to allow the text to widen the page when it gets to an indent of say 80% of screen width or something?
Or is it just me?!

dunno
is it just not another creative challenge akin to squeezing your joke into 600px? or a haiku?
edit: you now get chucked out of the thread you've just read/replied to when logging in/out and are directed to the main board.

ta! we're thinking about that now
it's always been an issue, hopefully we can do something about it

I like it.
It is one of the many foibles of the website. It encourages a bit of imagination. Fuck these modern sites with their word wrapping.

Not too good on a Motorola V235
...but then, nothing is. Actually, I'll admit, I haven't tried. Some things really aren't worth the effort.
Thank you so much for not making the site look rubbish for the non-mobile user, as seems to be the trend when going all responsive. Just look at the white space and lack of information on the BBC News website now.
Seriously, big big thank yous for that.

Just to say
for those weird ones among us using Windows Phone 8, it seems to be all fine and working.
(Which is odd, as Inept Explode - uhh IE tends to mangle every other webpage you throw at it.)
