Why do we have to wait till before an election before the parties start to hint at giving us the sort of things we'd like from a government? Why not do this sort of thing, you know, during the period you were fucking elected to do this sort of thing in??!

my MP wrote to my girlfriend last week, saying "oooh I'm sorry I 'forgot' to reply to one of your emails (from December) so I'm going to reply to it now - there's an election coming up and I can;t safely ignore you any more. Give it a month and I'll start ignoring you again if I get back in"

cam back from holiday to find a new lappost outside my house which would have shone straight in my bedroom.
called the tories and lib dems to complain, the lib dem guy came round and said he'd have a word with highways, silence from the tory guy but the lib dem guy followed it up, got it moved to an agreed location where it wouldn't shine in my or the neighbours houses within a couple of days. 11 days later the main tory guy phones up to return our call from answer phone message we left, by which time the problem had been sorted.

today I will spend the entire day wondering what work there is to do, then realising at 5pm what it was, and it also coincidentally being due at 5pm

I think I am at theopposite end of the scale - I know exactly what I need to do, but I can't be bothered. When it gets to 5pm, I'll wish I had done the work... :D
