*edit* Do you ever have any of those moments where you should have checked whether Barbarossa has bindunned it already just before posting?

Rooney was ineffective.
Lampard hardly there.
Lennon. Rubbish.
Heskey. Slow and lumbering.
Cole hardly ever came forward.

it just looked like he'd come back from a 10 mile run, and really just couldn't be arsed joining in.
I though Glen whatsisface (bloke with braids) played a good game - Beckham was superb!

They defended really well, as I told someone on Friday they would, and they openly laughed in my face.

Why be reasonable when you can irrationally blame?

I don't blame him for picking Green.
Heskey and Milner/SWP rather than Cole however is a different matter
Thiong is Prodge, even people who hate football are goalkeeper experts today

the only thing he did wrong was to smear his gloves with grease...

Rob Green should have used different gloves when he went to help the BP Mexican Gulf cleanup...

for picking fucking Heskey. He's a prick.
I don't blame Green for England not winning, the outfield players in my opinion were mostly ineffective. It's odd, I appear to have watched a totally different game to the commentators and the ITV pundits.
EDIT: having said that, it was really quite a bad mistake to make, but at least he's made it in the first game and not in a quarter final, say.

as a former goalkeeper myself - I'd have jumped on the bastard ball ad smothered it just to make sure - not attempt some text book cricket fielding

But when Brazil do it you can see it's with a purpose, to unlock the defence.
When England do it it's because they can't think of anything else to do.

the Aussies had a good pass around last night - but had no one up front really

everyone seems to be praising Heskey because he set up gerrard's goal.
We'll just forget his ineptitude cost us the match as well, cos it's easier to blame a horrible mistake, Rather than consistent ineptness

but for fuck sake if it wasn't for green it would have been 2-1 not 1-1.
yer defence was piss poor

a good block in the second half - although the woodwork helped somewhat

we should focus on the positive of that upright bit of pipe keeping one out.

he VERY nearly got beaten at his near post. I thought his position was poor and he just redeemed it.
He's a nice bloke, probably the only player in the starting XI who isn't a total tool, but that was a pisspoor display.
Prodge, your right about the defence being shite, but you could equally apply that to most of the rest of them...Lampard, tick; SWP, tick; Milner, why did he even start; Capello, poor decisions re King and Milner; etc etc

The manager should let his keepers know who's going to wear the No.1 long before kickoff but Green didn't know until an hour before the game and in my books that's not good for a Goalie.

Basic problem: all our keepers are average. Any of them could have made that mistake and it wouldn't have been a massive surprise to me. Tim Howard would walk into that team and I don't even rate him that highly.
