# Check John Lewis
There's a Panasonic 42" plasma (TX-P42X20B) that sometimes comes up for £450 (£480 at the mo, though they have a cheaper Samsung one), including 5 year warranty and delivery by their own people rather than your nearest chimpoid army. It's 720p not 1080, but unless you watch your TV from two feet away it makes little difference.

Don't go for LCD unless you can afford one of the LED backlit ones (which do edge ahead of plasmas) as you'll soon notice the lack of colour range and then you'll be stuck with it. LCD screens have a non-reflective plastic surface, but that's only for the unemployed who want to watch TV all day or in gangs with the lights on. Plasmas have glass screens with anti-reflective coatings. They're still a bit refelective, but in the evening with the curtains drawn the picture is far superior.

And Argos do a nice thick-topped wood telly stand rather than these ludicrously priced and massively heavy smoked glass jobbies.

Just my opinion - what I did anyway. 'cos someone on b3ta told me to...

# Plus John Lewis do that 5 year warranty thing
which is nice.

# I have LCD & it seems fine to me
Plus I believe they're better for the environment than plasmas.
Or something.

# I think it's because they hoover up a bit less electrickery.
But sod it, I don't have kids so I'm way down the scale of planet-rapers anyway.

# HD? LED? LCD?
when was the last time anybody actually missed something important because their telly wasn't large or crisp enough.
Its all in the scripting.....
