i blame in-jokes, people who take the rules too seriously and a lack of major development on the site.

What could be done to bring it back to life?
What kind of developments are needed?

An image uploader that operates at more than about 5 bytes per minute would be a start

but it would be nice not to have to keep reloading the page. perhaps if it could update automatically with ajax or whatever techno-script people use nowadays. perhaps we should all go on a feature request spree.

the basic concept of the kind of imageboard we use seems a little bit old-fashioned don't you think? although it's clearly more up to date than the 4chan etc. kind of imageboard scripts.

Too many features would just mess it up I think.
Things that could keep it simple and just about the content would be welcome so long as they were non-invasive and streamlined.

The very fact that you don't have people posting a couple of words, followed by a signature that takes up half the screen on its own because it's full of the post that was replied to repeated again, random information (such as it is), a series of quotes, an endless sucession of animated gifs and smileys, anime porn, etc etc. I don't think the people on here would go for all that sort of thing in their posts anyway, but not having the ability in the first place keeps things tidy and you get more emphasis on the content that way.
Yes, board looks dated, but it does the job.

just the way it works. a constantly auto-refreshing /board could help it to feel more "happening" (for want of a less unfashionable word) rather than the "static" feel it seems to have.
i think the way it looks is great.

I'm fed up of having to constantly scan through board to spot any recent additions to current threads. We can see the most popular posts, so it can't be too hard to do something similar for the newest posts, right?

turn it on on your profile and new posts have a highlight on the left.

I was thinking of something similar to the popular board but this makes wasting time much more efficient.
(And yes, I did already have this option turned on.)

But /board does seems a little snippier, of late.

i'm not sure of how they could be integrated, just that there should be some sort of way that they should interact with each other. in a nice way. rather than the occasional post of some scat porn on another board. :)

/links is always good, just to see what others think might be of interest.
But I'm afraid that every time I've looked at /talk, it seems to be lots of people telling each other to fuck off.
(in all fairness to the members of /talk - I've only strayed across on a handful of occasions, so my view is probably slightly askew)

the majority of the people that were about when I signed up don't post images anymore. Maybe B3ta has run its course for them or maybe they're just currently too busy.
I know I don't have the inclination that I once did, mainly due to the sniping, but I'm also stuck being busy with the day job.
Swings and roundabouts.
