# TJ: how would i sort the colours out?
(, Sat 7 May 2011, 17:21, archived)
# Is there a 'hue' function in what you're using?
Slightly 'sharpening' the face might help.

# i played with the hue function and his head went from magenta to green ;)
i had a play and managed this:

# Better, doesn't look like a mask now.
(, Sat 7 May 2011, 18:15, archived)
# Yay... great stuff.....100% better....
Now just try using a soft edged eraser on the bottom bit of his neck to take away the hard edge....

# when you click eraser
there are various options in the panel underneath. will ahve a play!

# Apparently this may help if you didn't see it further up the board.....

# i dont use teh gimp either
I am using Paint Shop Pro 8
(, Sat 7 May 2011, 18:59, archived)
# much better!
Another tip is to try to select an image that's a similar resolution to the one you're pasting into, then it won't look so blurry.
Or use the 'sharpen' tool, but that can only go so far.

# awww shucks, thanks guys
when you say "soft edged eraser" do you mean the blur tool?
(, Sat 7 May 2011, 18:26, archived)
# No.. blur is not usually any good at blending because it just blurs the edge... which is then as obvious as a seam...
What is meant by a soft edge earser is, click on the easer tool, and then select a soft edged brush, I don;t know how to do this in gimp, but it might be right click the properties of the brush and select of there maybe options in the toolbar once you have selected eraser...

Any gimp users here know how to do it?
(, Sat 7 May 2011, 18:34, archived)
# you said 'seam' like it's a bad thing :(
(, Sat 7 May 2011, 19:39, archived)
# hahaha
superb

# This is ace.....

# Maybe increase saturation in the head / decrease in the bg? Greyscale it all as a last resort.
Head's too small also.

But then I'm pretty shit at these things so don't listen to me :)

# duplicate the base image and turn it into a colour layer over the top
delete/clone to sort out bad bits. Colour balance also works, but need a lot more practise.

# Thanks for the advice guys, as you can see i am no expert
but i like to have a play: with these

(, Sat 7 May 2011, 17:37, archived)
# What program are you using?
(, Sat 7 May 2011, 17:49, archived)
# teh GIMP
n00b version ;)
(, Sat 7 May 2011, 17:53, archived)
# I don't know where any of the tools are in gimp or what are available, I use photoshop
But they should be similar,

In photoshop. if you click on image in the tool bar, you'll gat a drop down box, select adjustments and in there you will have tools called, colour balance, hue and saturation, selective colour and channel mixer, the all do pretty much the same job of changing the hue and colour of layers but in slightly different ways, click on these options and just have a play about with them, the more you play the easier it becomes.

Also try blending you object in with a soft edged eraser, this can quite offten take away a hard edge.

Also adjusting the contrast and brightness of the added layer so it matches the base layer also helps...

# thanks mate
yeah, gimp has hue/saturation/colour. just seemed to make his face go different colours though!
(, Sat 7 May 2011, 18:14, archived)
# Don;t know if it's the same in gimp,
But in photoshop when you click on hue and saturation,
When the box appears, appart fron the sliders for hue and satuation, there is an edit box at the top where you can choose which colour you want to edit, like master meaning all the colours, or just the reds or greens or blues ect.... it is really useful to be able to edit individual colours....
(, Sat 7 May 2011, 18:21, archived)
# yes! it has these...
will play some more!
