then tar me with an idiot brush
They have the best films, the gadget show, CSI, law and order and lots of silly documentaries about EXTREME HOUSE BUILDING or something. ITV is my generally recognised 'thicko' channel. *dribbles*

You got me there.
They do have the odd good film on there. Oh and sorry to TJ guys, but which music production software would be best to start out with, Reaper or Ableton? And where would I get either one for the Mac?

You're a mac user eh?
So your IQ must be over 90?

I've heard great things about Reaper...
...sadly I can't get it to play nicely with my USB interface at the moment. /perils of the modern-day guitarist :D

Reaper 4 has just come out.
It's free for home use. I've never used it but have heard very good things about it. Download from Cockos website:www.reaper.fm/download.php

It costs $60 for home use, surely?
There is only one version of REAPER. We offer two licenses, depending on how you use it. $225: full commercial license. $60: discounted license. You may use the discounted license if any of the following is true: You are an individual, using REAPER only for personal use. You are an individual or business, using REAPER for commercial use, and the yearly gross revenue does not exceed USD $20,000. You are an educational or non-profit organization.

There's a 5 second nag screen that appears when you start the program, if you haven't registered after 30 days.
if you haven't registered after 30 days. The program remains fully functional. Sounds free to me... If you really like it and make money from it go ahead and register.

Ahh, so not too different from a trial of Photoshop.
I might register after a while then, if, or course, I make money from the music I make.
