# I tried to watch Vanilla Sky the other day
what a big pile of old pants that is

# That was the last Tom Cruise movie I ever saw
After that I decided it just wasn't worth the bother any more

What a steaming pile of shit
(, Wed 30 Jan 2013, 15:07, archived)
# I got to about half way through
I think I mistook it for another film from around then that I hadn't seen, but I don't know know what that might be.
(, Wed 30 Jan 2013, 15:09, archived)
# Oh you're lucky
I watched it all the way through

and by the end I was so fucking livid that I added Tom Cruise to my list of actors that I will not watch. It's a list of precisely two at the moment, the other being Robin fucking bastard Williams.

# How about Jim irritating cunt Carrey?
(, Wed 30 Jan 2013, 15:19, archived)
# I'd have to check, as he doesn't seem to have been in much lately
*returning from IMDB*

The last Jim Carrey movie I saw was Eternal Sunshine, which wasn't too bad. I've seen Man on the Moon and Truman Show as well, neither of those are terrible.

Films I didn't even know he was in: Dead Pool and Earth Girls Are Easy.

There's nothing on the level of What Dreams May Come or anything in the Cruise ouvre there, sorry.
(, Wed 30 Jan 2013, 15:29, archived)
# But... but... he can run around and talk really quickly and loudly and pull faces!
Yeah... I don't like him either.
(, Wed 30 Jan 2013, 15:30, archived)
# Which, given the demands of the roles of The Mask and Ace Ventura made him rather a good fit.
And Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is a fantastic film.
So, all in all, I think he gets by.

But fuck me, most Robin Williams films could turn Mr Happy suicidal.

# ^ with knobs on
People think he's funny but his skills are as you said:

1. Talks and acts manically
2. Pulls faces
3. Er
4. That's it

# Haha true
Which is why he was paid 1/3 more than your average actorrr
(, Wed 30 Jan 2013, 15:55, archived)
# Listen to his earlier works
In particular, the old radio series "I'm sorry, I'll read that again".

Interesting fact : the 25th anniversary episode is possibly the only time he's performed the silly walk on radio.

I liked the atmosphere, the feeling through the film of "I know something odd is going on here and can't wait to find out what".

I liked the STORY. Remember those? Stories?

It's a very good story. One of those films you have to pause if you're going to make a cup of tea because there are clues scattered throughout.

It's one of those films where I said "OMFG" when the plot was revealed at the end.

# I hate the hyperactive midget
but I preferred his film over Abre Los Ojos because Cruise's smug self-satisfaction and fall from his privileged position is what really drives the story - I didn't get quite the same sense of that with an unfamiliar actor.

# I like the trailer
Tom running round an empty New York to Mint Royale

Saw the whole thing and thought it was pretentious arse.
Then find out it was a remake of a french film, thus proving my poiint
