how much memory does windows 2000 take mine seems to say 3gig :-( sounds like too much

I'm assuming that
by memory you mean disk space, in which case the default winduhs installation can be over 3/4gb by the time you add in the 'driver backup' database plus the dll backups that exist *just in case you delete one*.
That's Pro mind, Server might take up a bit more.....

just to clean up the confusion below
I did mean disk space... having troubles trying to find anything to delete on my old 333mhz... it is a sweet machine, has 512mb of ram init but only 100 hard drive room,.,, runs like a snail but can run forever.... ahhh i love it,, must save the ol' china.

how much memory should w2k use?
should run ok in 64mb, as long as not too many apps are running. 256mb should be good for general use.
(edit) has anything crashed recently? you may have something using up a bunch of memory and not releasing it properly.

It's no real set amount - my winn dir takes ~1 gig but it's a pretty recent installation so I'll expect that to go up over time.
