if your hard drive was part of the internet that is

# I'm listening
to Another Postcard by the Barenaked Ladies.
It has to be one of the most bizarre ideas for a song ever.
(, Mon 1 Sep 2003, 0:55, archived)
# nah..
Nuff Cuts by Lightyear. That's a weird song!
(, Mon 1 Sep 2003, 0:59, archived)
# Is that Lightyear
the punk-ska band from Derby?
(, Mon 1 Sep 2003, 1:02, archived)
# The very same!
They're splitting up this month!
(, Mon 1 Sep 2003, 1:09, archived)
# Why?
I went to uni with Saxophonist Ben a couple of years back, I still have a t-shirt and the demo they did with evil macaroni.

What happened?
(, Mon 1 Sep 2003, 1:10, archived)
# When I saw them, Ben looked like he was gonna kill me!
I jumpped down of the stage, got my foot caught in a load of wires and ripped his microphone down as he was playing into it! :)

# He wasn't the worst I don't think
I used to hear endless tales of the band in various places.
Usually ended up with most of them naked and pissing on drunks.
that was the pleasant stuff.
(, Mon 1 Sep 2003, 1:22, archived)
# Great band...
I screwed up half the sat that night for them though...I was REALLY drunk...and felt sick after looking at the shit Neil had just had in a bucket and placed in the middle of the stage while Captain Everything were playing...
(, Mon 1 Sep 2003, 1:26, archived)
# nice.

# The song itself
doesn't soudn weird, but the lyrics are odd.
It's about someone getting harrassed by some anonymous person who keeps sending them postcards with chimps on them
(, Mon 1 Sep 2003, 1:09, archived)
# Yeah, that's the same with Lightyear
"These eyes are burning through the walls (wings are like, wings like a shield of steal)
Deflecting any death rays from a girl,
Purple Y-fronts without the hole, what do I do when I need to go?"

If that's not disturblingly mental, what is?

# is that reference to the cartoon character batfink?
(, Mon 1 Sep 2003, 1:14, archived)
# Probably!
infact, most likely!

they reference alot of old stuff in songs...like Street Fighter 2!

"Smile, I said smile. In Street Fighter 2 that would be a special move against Guile"
(, Mon 1 Sep 2003, 1:17, archived)
# only ska can get away with lyrics like that.
I mean, "kicking pigeons"???

fucking great song.
(, Mon 1 Sep 2003, 1:20, archived)
# Ska is
a reason to be stupid with your lyrics I think:)
(, Mon 1 Sep 2003, 1:23, archived)
# It certainly is
but in a why that implies some kind of genius!
I mean, batfink reference, what more do you want!

# Woo!
I love BNL!
I always thought 'Paperback Writer' was a weird
subject for a song.. Seems as though it should
be a film soundtrack or summat..
