I did on upgrading to XP is make it look like windows 98 and take all the stupid pointless animations off the menus and everything.

and when I go home having to unfuck what they've done specifically.
and not being able to lock them down effectively because there isnt any of the nt admin tools for some reason.
and the fact that it needed 40 mb of updates as soon as it was installed.

i installed suse linux and that needed about sixty megs of updates as soon as it was installed.
actually, i learnt the hard way that xp home has absolutely all of the functionality of xp professional (minus IIS which i don't want), it's just undocumented. reboot into safe mode and you can do just about everything will all manner of extra fancy options, i seem to remember.
i love lovely xp home.

thing is suse package every application.
so every program on your system gets updated. not just the os.
