E.g. leaching off the BBC, say, is fine as they won't notice the difference. Same with CNN and other big sites.

cos this site isn't just a random caption competition.

But you might want to borrow a picture for example to illustrate a point within a thread.

but I still think it best to work on the basis of all leeching is bad - if only to gain the moral high ground.

now I think about it, in Britain we pay for the Beeb's bandwidth, so that probably makes it fair play...

about illustrating points mid thread when we're talking about current events or something. Not much point saving and hosting a bbc or sky news pic just for that.

1) stealing bandwidth
2) posting a piccy you havent made/or altered

So i'm not allowed to post anything that I haven't made myself? If I had linked the page rather than the picture, the context would have been lost. Being responsible is good, but being a pedant is just not fluffy.

I would say no you can't post anything you haven't made (linkies excluded).
As I said above, this place isn't a caption competition.

Yeah, I thought about the bandwidth issue, but I dare say that they don't rightly give a poo about it. I knew someone would bring it up. I obviously wouldn't do the same to a small personal site, I'm not an animal!
