i wouldn't put it quite like that, but:
(a) i've had a bad year and finding it hard to settle, need a gap year really
(b) i never really liked the place in interview, god knows why i came back
(c) the style of teaching doesn't suit me
(d) it's incredibly depressing
the number of people who have talked to my mum with a "leaving oxford? yes! fight the power!" attitude is very suprising though.

uni is far more about the experience than any actual learning you might do. Oxford seem to concentrate on the learning too much. Ergo, oxford = cranberry.

i'm not cooking or catering for myself, i haven't socialised at all, i have a nice big room close to tutorials and i have a juicy bursary so money is no worry. none of which is helping to develop me socially.

that you are simply proving that you are that young, that immature, and that you probably haven't done your homework.

And nope, today has gone great! I brought year 8 into line through careful applications of threatened detentions, moving people and warnings, there was total silence in the parts of the lesson where it was required, and it was smashing. Had the added bonua of catching a truanter later on in the day and frogmarching him to the reception for his punishment.
Stalin is my rolemodel... ^_^
EDIT: Pluke, one of the better ideas for lectures is to take most of your group to the local student bar, buy your pints, drink, repeat until your next lecture, and take one with you under your coat. The sight of a lecturer staring at a row of people suddenly removing pint glasses of various bevvys simultaneously half way through a lesson is rather amusing... ^_^

Wouldn't it be funny if it turned out you were their teacher.
