# one of the few films to scare me in recent years
watch it if you dare (japanese ver only - spooky music)

WOO!

# Possible argument
Don't you think the US version makes more sense?

Plus, stuff in the Japanese version annoys me.

"Tell me what's wrong. I'm a psychic" WTF?

# tis the fine traditon of japanese films
to make it up as they go along.
(, Thu 4 Mar 2004, 16:44, archived)
# Yay!
That is a daaaaaaark film, and incidentally I saw the sequel the other day, not ring 2 but Spiral. It was a bit interesting but mainly fucking dull..
(, Thu 4 Mar 2004, 16:28, archived)
# ring 2 is excellent
not quite the same shock but still creeeeepy

(, Thu 4 Mar 2004, 16:31, archived)
# The thing is
to my eternal shame I went to a nerdy all night Japanese horror film festival the other week, and they showed a film that was based on the book sequel to the Ring (apparently they made it after making Ring2, because they weren't very happy with the original sequel). It got very odd, all to do with how the curse was a disease and can spread through writing as well.. then it got into rebirth, life, death, all the usual japanese stuff.

# still sounds funky

# Japan should be sent to a psychiatrist
for making (among others I'm certain) 'Audition' and 'Ichi the Killer' which a mate brought round a couple of weeks ago. I'm pretty sure I've never seen a woman cut all her fella's fingers and his tongue off, break his legs, stuff him in a bag in the cellar and only let him out occasionally to eat dog food in a Jim Carrey film. And that's probably a good thing.

See- now you've made me go and remember it. I was doing so well.

# ring 0 is scarier
seen Dark water yet?
(, Thu 4 Mar 2004, 16:38, archived)
# I haven't seen either yet just 1 & 2
will do when I have a DVD horror night.... must get round to that.

I REALLY REALLY want to watch INTACTO though. Think it's spanish. About gambling and luck vampires as such.

Oh and also that dragon something or other with the tokyo earthquake effects and BR2.... sooo many films, sooo much time wasted on b3ta ;¬P

# i suggest dark water
tis by the guy who did raison and has the bird from the ring tv series
(, Thu 4 Mar 2004, 16:42, archived)
# I would suggest you watch
a film called Identity. It's got John Cusack in it, and it gets very odd towards the end, it's one of those headfuck films ala fight club
(, Thu 4 Mar 2004, 16:46, archived)
# i saw a film
which was a modern remake of the pied piper of hamlin but the guy used the mice to kill his boss. was borked.
can't remember the name of it tho

# think so yeay...
he lived in on old house with his mum and worked for a relative who was a cunt to him, and there was a big rat who was evil
(, Thu 4 Mar 2004, 16:52, archived)
# The original film
has the song "Ben" by Michael Jackson in it. A song about being friends with a rat
(, Thu 4 Mar 2004, 16:54, archived)
# thats the one

# Heh
Cheers.

What is scary about that actress is the fact that she's been in so many cool movies already. Lilo and Stitch, The Ring, Spirited Away and Donnie Darko.

# DD
Massive film. Like Ferris Bueller on acid.
(, Thu 4 Mar 2004, 16:44, archived)
# Aaaaaaargh!
I so wish that had been one of the subliminal images on the video. My girlfriend wouldn't have slept for a week!

whereas I wasn't scared at all. In any way.

# I thought that
watching it first time, going "Not bad, not scary, thoguh" and then the cranberry of a postman hit my door bell. I needed a new sofa.
(, Thu 4 Mar 2004, 16:52, archived)
# I wrote a prop for a viral mechanism intended to promote the DVD
The idea was to have a relatively simple flash show showing *that* film. The hook was, when you sent it to someone you knew (anonymously) you could also set up a live alert showing when they opened the page and viewed the file.

Then all you had to do was pick up the phone and...

The promoters wimped out for legal reasons.
