why not try re-sizing the image to 100% / 50% and then use size tags to make the image the right aspect ratio?

Just a thought.

# The darker lines still carry some
picture information... I think on the blunkett one, the lines are at around 50% opacity.

I also quite like the look of the lines, and they also help to cover up any shonky photoshopping
