good good, 250k can be acheived by making it say 10-15 pixels shorter in each dimension
scan lining it , resizing it, reducing colours, increasing lossy etc, all good ways of doing it.
Lemony has a good optimisation page somewhre, if someone can link it...

Just set lossy to 10, it doesn't make much difference to the quality when there's a lot of black and the images are mainly static. (I also reduced the colours to 64 just to help out a bit.)
