EDIT: Teh profile is proof of that.

# What exactly is so bad about Firefox?
Hmm?

# It allows you to see the internets
eeeek!

# Quite.
Particularly when other fuckers install a shitload of plugins and extensions and then complain that their website doesn't work.

# Ahhh!
that would be greasemonkey then

# Sometimes it iritates me
like it's caching of rewrite rules, for example.

That said I spent almost all of last night fixing a bug in IE7 and all of today fixing a change they made in their implementation of base href, so I am a huge FF fan today.

# There are no bugs in IE7.
I mean, after all, It's made by microsoft. I think they know what they are doing, don't you?
(, Fri 15 Dec 2006, 17:00, archived)
# Well, no.
For example, their phishing filter is a bitch and they don't follow the markup specs, particularly CSS2, very well at all.

That said, they are big enough that, if they want to do it their way, then who are we to say which spec is right?

# sorry,
I forgot to hold the sarcasm button down when I typed that.

# I actually stand up for MS a lot.
They do produce good software and a lot of their standards (like, for example, case insensitive file names) make the standard standards look a bit shit, but sometimes they piss me off.

If anyone is having problems with IE7 flagging their sites as phishing I can fix that btw.

# hmmmm... i do agree...
but...

MS charge a fucking fortune for stuff when you can get open source counterparts free

Open-Office for example
(, Fri 15 Dec 2006, 17:12, archived)
# I used Open Office for a long time,
but it just isn't as good.

I use some open source stuff and all my hosting is Unix, but MS stuff works really well on the whole.
(, Fri 15 Dec 2006, 17:15, archived)
# Open Office = not all that good... (but for FREE???)
Lets drop this... this could go on for a LONG time
(, Fri 15 Dec 2006, 17:22, archived)
# It doesn't cache rewrite rules, they're server side.
If your rule returns a permanent redirect (301) ('R' flag in mod_rewrite) then the correct behaviour for the browser is to go straight to the target page in future.

# this had better be an advert to move away from IE...
although you're probably on about some sites looking shit in FF..

this is down to poor execution and (i'm sure deliberate) corner cutting in IE
(, Fri 15 Dec 2006, 17:00, archived)
# Hmm,
You see, it's not IE cutting corners often.

It's normally coders cutting corners and not realising because IE does such a good job of handling poor code.

I use FF btw.
(, Fri 15 Dec 2006, 17:12, archived)
# thats what i meant... but i had to type quickly...
that was my point... the coding is shit... rather than the browser...

IE rectifies the corners, which (i reckon) shouldn't happen... I'm a developer and check on FF/IE/Opera (even though its UTTER SHIT) and sometimes Safari...
