I'm gonna be in the Prof's bunker if anyone wants me, I don't know if he realises I have a key but I doubt he'd hold it against me

Edit: It's flame-proof, and he might have left a couple of Tim-Tams if anyone wants to join me

# Is that the famous 'Tim Tam Slam' you're referring to?
(, Wed 7 Mar 2007, 8:54, archived)
# I've never had it :(
But that sounds about right.

Once it was a biscuit, and a cup of tea, but now it is... THE TIM-TAM SLAM

I must do this sometime, I fear that my very happiness depends upon it!
(, Wed 7 Mar 2007, 8:59, archived)
# I was once told you could do it with a crunchie.
Bollocks! You can suck jack shit through a crunchie.
(, Wed 7 Mar 2007, 9:00, archived)
# You bite the opposite corners off the Tim Tam
Dip it in your tea and suck the tea up through it. When soggy, slam the biscuit in your mouth.

An Australian taught it to me during presentation training.

# Ah-hah!
A more detailed/specific version of what I'd heard, I thank you Miss.

...now I just need to locate the biscuits themselves!

# copy/paste time
The Tim Tam Slam, also known as the Tim Tam Suck, Tim Tam Explosion, Tim Tam Orgasm, Tim Tam Straw, Shot-gunning a Tim Tam, or just plain Tim Tamming is the main form of Tea Sucking and involves biting off opposing corners of the Tim Tam and then using it as a 'straw' to suck up a hot beverage (usually tea, coffee, hot chocolate, or Milo) and then, just before the biscuit falls apart, it is placed in the mouth. The thicker chocolate coating on the Double Coat Tim Tam offers a more stable exoskeleton to help ensure the biscuit does not collapse prematurely. The Chewy Caramel variety also has an advantage for performing the Tim Tam Slam since the caramel centre helps to hold the biscuit together for a slightly longer time. The Arnott's company prefers the name Tim Tam Suck.

# as much as I like Tea, I prefer dunking biscuits in coffee for some reason.
And my fave biscuits for dunking are chocolate digestives, Hob Nobs, or even better - CHOCOLATE COATED HOB NOBS. Yum.

# Sorry to TJ but...
I got a problem and you guys are probably the only ones that can help!

I got an interview this afternoon, and I had one more piece of work to add to my portfolio (the 'money shot' as it were), and the goddam file is corrupt.
It's a .psd file. Tattyshop just tells me it's not a recognised format. I've tried dropping it into Acrobat, openign it with other software, nothing...
It's on my flash drive, I've got no way of accessing the computer it was created on (that'll be my home one, I'm at work).
I've tried it on Mac and PC, but no joy.

My entire future rests on you guys hefty shoulders.

Please help.

w/y/h etc...

# Upload it and link us. maybe one of us can jig about with the file

(, Wed 7 Mar 2007, 8:35, archived)
# Here's the file KW

# Doesn't work for me I'm afraid mate.
Don't you back your work up?!
(, Wed 7 Mar 2007, 8:43, archived)
# Yeah...
It's backed up at home. I'm at work, and I'm going straight to the interview.
I've only got the file on my flash drive.
(, Wed 7 Mar 2007, 8:46, archived)
#
can't you slip away at lunch or something to sort it?
(, Wed 7 Mar 2007, 8:48, archived)
# I'm gonna slip away a bit earlier
and make it up tomorrow.

Not the start to the day I'd hoped for.
(, Wed 7 Mar 2007, 8:53, archived)
# Don't worry about it.
Getting a new job will matter more in 5 years time than leaving an hour or two early in a job where they know you're leaving.

(, Wed 7 Mar 2007, 8:57, archived)
# I really do think it's a case of finding a way to do without it
or going home for your backup

Edit: Not that it's much good right now, but I also email copies to myself of important things

After all, you're about to quit, so there won't be any long term repercussions.

They know I've got an interview today, and I like my boss. I don't want him to think I'm a slacker. In fact I've just asked him if he's got any ideas.
(, Wed 7 Mar 2007, 8:45, archived)
# Well, if there's a friendship he'll let you go home - if you can establish that you still want what's best for the company then they should show you the same courtesy.
If he wants to be an arse about it then you shouldn't feel guilty.

Explain the problem and ask if they would like you to email it to them when you get back.

honesty best policy

i once went to one just after a flood had attacked my portfolio (back in the days when you showed the printed versions) - half the pages were missing/ruined, so i spent the interview saying 'now here was a rather lovely logo done for a clothing firm, looked a bit like...' then using a marker pen and whiteboard.

didn't get the job, somebody better did, but they phoned back to say they were very impressed with my bluffing skills, and was i interested in account management. i wasn't ;)
(, Wed 7 Mar 2007, 8:54, archived)
# =D
I managed to bluff my way through an interview by demoing a website that I hadn't made yet. I claimed that I hadn't been able to afford the hosting for the last few weeks but I'll email a copy after the interview.

I then went home and made it exactly how we talked about and got the job \o/
