i was always under the assumption that before the PS1 was released
game journos doing the rounds saw the Dev kits being
used to create the games with and in their hurry for an exclusive
printed that the new system was in fact called the PSX, which in fact was
the name of the systems used to test and run the then unreleased software.

the net yarouze was released for home development
in a bid to bring back the bedroom coder element lost since the eighties
so yeah, i suppose it's a scaled down version of the PSX
i remember i had a demo disc with a few net games on it
some were pretty cool

That sounds right.
I woke up one morning a few weeks ago with the words 'Net Yaroze' in my mind and it took me hours to remember what the hell it was.
Hopefully the Xbox arcade dev kit will be more successful. Tweaknik's doing something for that, if I remember correctly.
