# how do you do them?
morph an original photo or start from scratch?
(, Mon 18 Jun 2007, 1:51, archived)
# All three were made from the same image.
They're quite labour intensive, here's the sauce;

I just mess with them randomly and see what happens. I also use MSPhotoEd to smooth or sharpen pixels.

# wow, well...well done!
I'd stand no chance doing them.
(, Mon 18 Jun 2007, 1:57, archived)
# I doubt that, just don't think, and look for the faces.
;D
(, Mon 18 Jun 2007, 2:04, archived)
# woah, I can't begin to understand how you arrived at the above images
impressive, they look like robots
(, Mon 18 Jun 2007, 1:59, archived)
# Oh thanks.
Just,.ermm..expand, twirl, mess with the colours, I dunno,..I don't really think while I do them.

Robots rule.

Also, image 2 is a progression of 1, and 3 is a progression of 2.

# A bit too abstract for my tastes.
but obviously well done!

# Wooo...
1 is the first 2 is the second and 3 is the third *obviously..!!* but in order of my liking that is......mmmmmmm*I'm pissed and that doesn't make sense*......1 is the most woosome.....but I like all 3....
(, Mon 18 Jun 2007, 1:58, archived)
# Ta, one is the best.
(, Mon 18 Jun 2007, 2:06, archived)
# I agree it is very nice.....Reading what you put above........
Explaining how you did it... you tried starting from scratch without a source picture.???
(, Mon 18 Jun 2007, 2:15, archived)
# No silly, I've linked the sauce pic up there.
(, Mon 18 Jun 2007, 2:25, archived)
# Yes I saw it and looked......
Was just wondering why you don't start from scratch...??... you obviously know your way around photoshop well enough and have the talent to be able to do so .......I posted the pic above to show you can get similar results from starting from scratch and just wondered why you didn't just creat your own starting pictures before you started to manipulate them...???
(, Mon 18 Jun 2007, 2:39, archived)
# Interesting point..I have no idea.
Lazy I guess.

Also, the photos I choose have an organic/metallic/? quality that inspires me.

(They're not that similar)
;D

# it's nice when
you can see bits of what might have been structure (ie: original image) in what looks at first like a picture made from scratch.

that's maybe why 1 is better than 2 or 3. 2 is too complex (too much of the original), while 3 is too simple (no obvious hidden structure).

1 is goldilocks.
(, Mon 18 Jun 2007, 2:48, archived)
# Hmm..
I wouldn't say 2 is too complex, and I wouldn't say 3 is too simple. All three are emulating different styles.

Thing is, if i hadn't linked the source pic it would be hard to make the comparison, nes pa?
