Got any bat catching tips? About 15 minutes ago a bat flew in to my sitting room and it won't go away and it's getting quite annoying, I've opened all the windows in the hope that it will fly out. I've tried catching it with a towel, but the bat is too fast.

flew in and straight into a wall, so it was easy to get back outside..

and hasn't touched a wall. It has even flown straight at me a few times and managed to avoid me. The crazy wee bugger.

It'll find its way out eventually, and they have such poor eyesight that household lighting will be blinding it even more.
The smell of moths and the light of the moon will help it find its way home:)
I love bats.

but I don't fancy trying to take a barbed hook out of a bat's gob. I think I'll leave it, it'll go out the window eventually. It's okay to walk about with out it slamming in to my face. They're certainly not easy to catch.

So maybe chase it with a baseball bat or something.
I think most bats are attracted by the flapping of insect wings, some by blood and some by fruit. Ask him what type of bat he is.
Edit: He could also be a chip bat.

For about 5 minutes it was exciting having a bat in the house. I'm going to try and catching it a fishing net then lob it out the window.

Then go and stand outside of the window and move your arms about to attract it ......should fly straight towards you ...*possibly making this up but worth a try*....!!!.... could also try holding a mouse up in the air as well as bait..!!

it's just flying around in a circle, it flys near my head and its wing has skiffed my ear. I like bats but they're bloody annoying when they get in your house.

It should be attracted to the heat from your body ....*not a good idea if your on the 3rd floor of anything though*..!!!

but I can't be arshed do that, I'm just going to leave it, it's a sort of an annoying novelty having a bat flapping about my head.

about two or three years ago some guy got bitten by a pipistrel bat and contracted rabies. He died.

I chucked it out the window and it flew to freedom unharmed.

he'll follow it back to the ground and then you can catch him with a trash can or something.
I do it for fun in the summer (witchout the actually catching part). I think it's probably a mating thing as I don't know why else bats would follow something that big to the ground but they do (the ones in America anyway).
