I do like a lot of his work, but he's just a vandal with a spray-can and his 'work' is not that unusual. A lot of paste-ups of a similar nature existed before.
If he wants to be considered legitimate then I say stop fucking people's stuff up, you cunt.
Because of Banksy we see a fuck load of teenagers who otherwise wouldn't do it spraying shit because they think it is legitimate art.

and as someone who works in shoreditch (where there is a lot of his stuff), I quite like seeing it.
it's certainly better than the endless crap tagging of people like rainman

it amuses me a lot.
That said, I hate the legitimising of it.
If it's on your house it is up to you, but councils should fucking wash it off with the rest of the crap.
'His is okay because it is good' is no argument. 'God' is subjective and every artist thinks that their work is good.

This means I keep collapsing, but it should pass in a week or two.
My friend had a heart attack tonight, which worries me as we always over indulged as a team.

that's the one bristol city council (CUNTS) held a poll to ask whether they should paint over it or not.
in reply to manley (he really is) and rob, i'd never heard of him before i moved to bristol, (despite the rat in liverpool) and two of my mates looked at me like i was a leper. some of his stuff is pretty cool (like the gorilla I saw today) and yes he is a vandal, but it's definately better than just someone's "stylised" tag, even if he is lauded beyond belief.
i'm personally not sure it's one person, and am thinking of screen printing my bandana with "I'm Banksy" (using his tag) for when i'm on my bike
