# Is this the work of Banksy?
I'm working in Amsterdam this week and noticed this, I swear it wasn't there the last time I looked.

Edit:
Answered, now so I shall remove the enormous picture...

(, Wed 10 Oct 2007, 19:17, archived)
# dunno if that was him
although i laughed when i heard it. the building in question's right by the mild mild west piece so i doubt it was him

i think (itunes shit)
i'm waiting for the second hard copy (no extra stuff, but no £40 price tag)
(, Wed 10 Oct 2007, 19:45, archived)
# Banksy usually puts his name nearby.
Another copycat, I would suspect.
(, Wed 10 Oct 2007, 19:17, archived)
# because he didn't copy anyone, ever
there's at least two in bristol that he lays claim two without his name nearby
(, Wed 10 Oct 2007, 19:22, archived)
# This
I do like a lot of his work, but he's just a vandal with a spray-can and his 'work' is not that unusual. A lot of paste-ups of a similar nature existed before.

If he wants to be considered legitimate then I say stop fucking people's stuff up, you cunt.

Because of Banksy we see a fuck load of teenagers who otherwise wouldn't do it spraying shit because they think it is legitimate art.
(, Wed 10 Oct 2007, 19:27, archived)
# there's fuck loads of graffiti with or without banksy
and as someone who works in shoreditch (where there is a lot of his stuff), I quite like seeing it.

it's certainly better than the endless crap tagging of people like rainman

which is bad

infact that's just a totally inaccurate statement sir, *shakes head*

# totally inaccurate
definitely. definitely inaccurate.

# As I say, I like his work
it amuses me a lot.

That said, I hate the legitimising of it.

If it's on your house it is up to you, but councils should fucking wash it off with the rest of the crap.

'His is okay because it is good' is no argument. 'God' is subjective and every artist thinks that their work is good.

# the bloke hanging out of the window?
that's the one bristol city council (CUNTS) held a poll to ask whether they should paint over it or not.

in reply to manley (he really is) and rob, i'd never heard of him before i moved to bristol, (despite the rat in liverpool) and two of my mates looked at me like i was a leper. some of his stuff is pretty cool (like the gorilla I saw today) and yes he is a vandal, but it's definately better than just someone's "stylised" tag, even if he is lauded beyond belief.

i'm personally not sure it's one person, and am thinking of screen printing my bandana with "I'm Banksy" (using his tag) for when i'm on my bike
(, Wed 10 Oct 2007, 19:37, archived)

A waste of my money and time. The graphics were just pasable for a computer game and definatly not up to the $bazillions that it cost for the really bad textures and modeling. Not to mention the shitty script, the poor acting, how much I now hate Stan Lee for bastardising the franchise of not only the Hulk but the whole Marvel name.

What I like and what I laud are not the same though. I have been known to speed, but I don't support speeding. Fuck it, I took Heroin when I was young, but I don't think it's a good idea.
