are you meant to use shape layers?
Otherwise, it doesn't stay scalable without lots of messing about.

to be fair, I only used it twice before I got into illustrator. Much easier once you get used to it

It does feathered edges nicely though, it's very fast.

on the size of the original image, you can get away with a lot. Obviously they are not true vector layers in photoshop until converted.
