# hmmm... it always needs it though...
have you ever had that low sodium salt stuff? its the worst thing ever. it makes everything taste like stomach acid.

# I tried it a few weeks ago, my girlfriends mum swears by it.
Absolutely hideous.

# when i used to work at a cinema
we used to make the popcorn and see how salty we could make it. when you put five times as much salt in as you're supposed to its amazing. getting giddy off evil amounts of salt is strange.
all this food talk am making me hungry, should go for the sammich or pasta?

# Have a salt sandwich.
(, Mon 21 Jan 2008, 15:08, archived)
# Nope, I only use a little salt on eggs, that's it.
Try the 6 bits/12 bites thing, it worked for my pa. I'm not a dietician, my family just come to me for medical advice because I've read some books.

# Surely you season things like steak?
I season most things, but I also eat a lot of vegetables, comfortably more than 5 portions a day.
(, Mon 21 Jan 2008, 15:06, archived)
# Nope. Steak gets pepper and garlic.

# try frying thinly cut steak in garlic butter with a little bit of lemon juice.
that is sexy.

# thats something i need to sort out. i'm lucky if i eat one.
i console myself with the fact that i drink a lot of fruit juice and eat plenty of bread but i guess that just doesn't cut it.

# It's just getting into the habit I guess.
I normally have onions and carrots in just about everything I cook, and a glass of fruit juice, so I'm on 3 already.
Then just a couple of extra veg, it's not too difficult.

# actually i forgot about onions.
do things like lettuce and cucumber count? cos i have them in sammichs most days.
(, Mon 21 Jan 2008, 15:14, archived)
# They count, but you need a fair amount of them.
Something like a quarter of a lettuce, I think.

# cool thats much better than i thought then
does anyone find attractive women advertising fiber drinks on tv unsettling?
(, Mon 21 Jan 2008, 15:20, archived)
# Yes, I do.
I also wonder why they don't just eat a few vegetables now and again.

# Most stuff does not really need seasoning
I forgot to buy new salt for a while and now I don't bother putting it on much.

A bit of pepper is good on steak but it certainly doesn't need any salt, not unless you've bought the bland tasteless crap they tend to sell in supermarkets.

# I normally buy good quality steak from the local market,
I just find salt brings out the flavours. Especially on the fat.

# definatly
lamb really needs as well. get a good handful of sea salt and rosemary and rub that into the fat of belly lamb and that's more or less heavenly.

# I think the best thing in the world is a leg of lamb with garlic and rosemary.
