but if I'm honest it is starting to get a little strange, the degree to which you are attempting to emulate my pictures.
You say you're not copying me as such, but if you recall, you actually told me on several occasions that your intention was to copy my style. Those were your actual words.
I honestly think your time would be better spent developing your own style and techniques. It would be yours, and I'm almost certain it would be more satisfying from your point of view. It looked to me recently as if you'd started to do that with those plasticy pics, but just lately you've been doing this sort of thing again.
To restate, I don't own these styles or techniques, and it's up to you what you make. I'm just saying that from my point of view it's both a little weird and a little mystifying.
And to address your last point: you have presented the proposition that there are only two alternatives open to you -- to copy me or to make planets. That's known as a "logical fallacy". Those are not your only options, and to present them as such is disingenuous of you.

I wanted to copy you at first, and yes, I did say that.
Recently I realised that I can't do it, so I'm just compromising.
You mentioned layers, and blending modes.
So I just play around with blending modes.
I don't know if you saw the mantis I vexelled this morning, I started with the body trying your style, but I decided not to, and it came out looking rather good.
I'm thinking of doing slightly different stuff, different shape pictures, too, so it's not the same shape and size as yours.
Like the mantis, and like the bird I did after hearing about the back-to-front thong man.
