My French isn't as good as it used to be
plus I have found the vast majority of French people that I've met to be incredibly rude. Whereas I can just about deal with it occasionally, to live within it constantly would be a chore with only one inevitable consequence- I would at some point get very angry, have a right go at everyone and then they'd be French AND in a mood.

what are they gonna do?
they'll just shrug then surrender
then sit outside of a cafe, smoking a cigar, reading provocative literature, tutting to themselves into the hours of darkness, as the rain begins to fall.
While a poor bandoneon player emits a lament of hate, in the distance.
Next week, I'll talk about Germany, be prepared for huge pots containing brown fluid and sausage and large chaps in incomprehensible trousers

Je vais maintenant aller à mon oncle de la ferme
J'y croître courgettes et s'engager dans un voyage de découverte incompréhensible auto
after first having a cup of coffee and a smoke

The older I get the more I love the French...
in a similar way to how I find I actually like Prince Phillip more and more the older I get (and the more I meet him)

Durty Dubbers...
I have a similar feeling about the Northern Irish, some of my best friends are Norn Oirish, as are some of the people I despise most in the world (who I've met)...

I say 'met'
he's Chancellor of the University an I've been at a few of the same things as him and been introduced to him once... and not for very long (*is lowly*)
despite my mother staunch republicanism, I thought he was an exceedingly rum sort and has a very very sharp sense of humour.

I was thinking more of moving to Germany myself, for no other reason that I speak German and would probably find German people less annoying.
I don't quote unquote think there is anything happening to this country, civilisation is in constant flux and change and anyone who thinks that there is some set value of Englishness is just kidding themselves. Change makes fools of us all.

I would move to Germany
but I don't think it'd be the best of ideas. I would become fat with schnitzel, frikadellen and beer.

I don't drink and dislike german sausages, so that works out fairly well for me.
I'm only going to buy a house with a basement and turn it into a underground complex of evil anyway, land is just cheaper in Germany.

I do laugh.
Sometimes even at jokes instead of other people's suffering.

I don't think so.
Laughing is where you open your mouth and emit a fluctuating vowel sound, whereas sneering is just where you have a long nose and are made out of pink felt.

Canada is ace.
I have family there and so very nearly moved there a couple of times ( as did my father. I might have moved as a 15 year old and never met you )
I have had 3 month stints in London, Toronto and Sarnia.
The French bit is foul.

Do they have French toilets in the French bit?
That's another reason for me not to move there if they do.

No it's quite civilised

I've done a fair bit of squatting over holes in Greece. It's not good.

It's bloody not.
I have painful knees as it is. And the unfortunate problem of being able to get into a crouching position perfectly fine, but being totally unable to straighten myself back up from there though. I have to have help.
and....well, no. Just...no.

No, I mean that
Vancouver and Quebec is quite civilised. Squatting over a metal pan is not, especially when they have places to put your feet. I can't begin to think of all the unwashed, before me, pissing on their feet.
