# I'm game, not really 'favourites', but today I have listened to...
Sigur Ros
The Kills
Clark
Cinematic Orchestra
Underworld
Goldfrapp
Robots in Disguise
65 days of static
Lou Rhodes
Panda Bear
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 19:51, archived)
# Hmm...
Sigur Ros is good. Sometimes. I have trouble liking some of their stuff. My cousin was totally into them. Dunno if she still is. Goldfrapp. Good. And I like Robots in Disguise, too.
What do you think about Bjork?
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 19:53, archived)
# Gling Glo, Sugarcubes, 808 State, or solo stuff?
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 19:54, archived)
# Sugarcubes
and solo stuff.
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 19:55, archived)
# Birthday is easily top 10 of greatest singles ever
I saw Sugarcubes play during Stick around for Joy.
I don't think her recordings have ever quite captured how good she is live though
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 19:57, archived)
# ha
great drumming on that album
Life's Too Good still does it for me though
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 19:58, archived)
# I agree
but then I also quite like Here today...
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 20:00, archived)
# Ho-hum.
Halrighty. I've never seen her live. mofaha and my cousin were supposed to see her in New York, but they didn't. I don't know why.
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 20:01, archived)
# I was in a
band with the drummer from 65 days of static.
/everyone leaves the bands I'm in to go and ' make it' :(
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 19:54, archived)
# they supported the Cure for their recent world tour
good for them, excellent noise :)
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 19:55, archived)
# is it wrong to think
vocals on some tracks would be a good idea?
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 19:55, archived)
# there's some vocally noises ;D
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 19:57, archived)
# What did you play in the band?
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 20:00, archived)
# Guitar
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 20:16, archived)
# Woo!
Go guitar!
*knows I should practice today*
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 20:19, archived)
# yes, go practice.
I may have to sell my Marshall stack and Trace elliot bass amp soon. Though I haven't had much use for them recently :(
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 20:26, archived)
# Oh no.
Why?
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 20:51, archived)
# I may well be leaving the UK
My options seem to be either Canada or Uganda.
And they would be a good source of money to fund such a move.
I've never sold any of my music stuff before, given enough of it away in the past, though.
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 20:59, archived)
# Oooh
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 21:06, archived)
# He's a fucking ace drummer. Everytime I see them live I'm astounded.
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 19:58, archived)
# yes, by far the best
member of the band I was in.

Cool guy, too.

*hopes it's still Rob*
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 20:01, archived)
# skinny bloke with dark hair
mental drummer (in a good way)
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 20:02, archived)
# They were way out of their depth at Wembley arena
it was a shame, and I wish they hadn't kept apologising. Hopefully they got on top of things for the US leg.
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 20:01, archived)
# Ah, that's a shame. I've only seen them in small venues and they've always had such a great vibe. Perversely, I can't get into their studio stuff.
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 20:03, archived)
# have you got the War of the Worlds mash up?
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 20:04, archived)
# I don't, no.
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 20:05, archived)
# can't find a link
well worth hunting down though.
Its the Jeff Wayne narration over Fall of Math
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 20:08, archived)
# Ha! Cool, I'll have a little Google for it this evening.
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 20:09, archived)
# damn that sounds amazing
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 20:13, archived)
# Wow, I hadn't been keeping track
of them, Wembley, fuck!
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 20:06, archived)
# recent Cure world tour
they were the support act
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 20:09, archived)
# goodness me...
Art Brut
The Beatles
Frank Turner
Guillemots
Jet
The Killers
Of Montreal
The Postal Service
Say Anything
The Shins
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 19:56, archived)
# Oooh.
I seem to have the most music in common with you. Yeah. I like all that, except the Beatles.
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 19:57, archived)
# woah!
take that back!
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 20:01, archived)
# she's young, she'll start actually understanding music soon and see the textbook error she made in that statement
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 20:03, archived)
# ^THIS :D
i don't see how anyone can claim to like any music and then say they don't like the beatles
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 20:07, archived)
# why?
everyone has different tastes
i think we can all agree they were talented songwriters
but i know i'm not really as fan of 'the beatles'
and really, only like harrison's solo output (except the fucking travelling fucking wilbury's)
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 20:40, archived)
# Noooo.
I like their lyrics, but I don't like their sound. And i don't really think I'm about to change that. :]
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 20:07, archived)
# trust me, in 10 years you will think the opposite
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 20:10, archived)
# Why?
That's Mum music. I am not mum, I never will be a mum. Thusly, no Beatles.
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 20:12, archived)
# you'll see
i'm not sure forcibly expelling a tiny human from your body makes you like the beatles though....
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 20:15, archived)
# Ssssh
Noooo.
The only time I liked the Beatles was when I saw Across The Universe.
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 20:18, archived)
# hahaha
it's like it's some huge mystical secret

(which it is)
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 20:21, archived)
# in which case, like it or not
your mum has a better understanding of music than you. Either that or she just remmebres something amazing and refuses to let go
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 20:18, archived)
# I think the latter.
In 10 years' time, the Beatles will sound even more shit than now. So I don't see myself ever liking them, even thought my music tastes are always changing and moving.
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 20:21, archived)
# I am not a massive Beatles fan,
but I think that it is very much the blinkers of youth that would make you say they are shit :)

My biggest problem with them isnt their music, it is more the pedestal that they are put upon that gets me. I dont believe any band could ever be as good as people make them out to be. However, love them or hate them, you have to appreciate that they are the most important band in modern music.
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 20:28, archived)
# i sort of agree with this
especially the way that the surviving members have managed to get away with churning out some absolute shit (some of mccartney's most recent stuff is pretty good though, especially chaos and creation...)

i'd like to see a modern band so prolific and yet with such a range and quality to their music though
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 20:36, archived)
# it can't happen now
the internet has fragmented music too much
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 20:40, archived)
# the beatles? Just a band
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 20:36, archived)
# but by that logic all music dopplershifts into shittness as it ages
which Buddy Holly, David Bowie, Jimmi Hendrix among many many others disprove.

don't throw all of the old stuff out of the window because your folks listen to it. it was the music that shaped that generation for a reason.

i'm revisiting The Distillers at the moment. I do like brody's awful voice
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 20:30, archived)
# David Bowie will ALWAYS be good.
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 20:55, archived)
# the best band I saw
at Glastonbury was Dead Kids
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 20:02, archived)
# ooh,
I like Dead Kids. I do not remember where, but I have the feeling I may have seen them.
(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 20:24, archived)
#
Pendulum
Oasis
Daft Punk
Justice
Jarvis Cocker (solo)
Pulp
Mr Oizo
Slick Rick

and thats about all i've listened to today

(, Mon 7 Jul 2008, 20:07, archived)
# *Flat Beats Mugatu in to a pulp* (this is hardcore)
Saw Jarvis DJ and wandering around at the Boosh Festival on Staurday. He's such a lovely fella.

You lose points for Oasis though ;)
