Bigger, more even tree - it looks 'forced' to lean this way; smaller man; more graduated rainbow; bigger noose; The bold red leads the eye away too much - maybe try a ground of some kind (like windows wallpaper?); I do like his stance and 'expression' (if you can call it that from the back).
Branches are hard; I'd suggest looking at lots of pics of real trees, and cribbing one.
