but lots of scientist have proven him wrong.
There's still a huge academical debate what's the cause of global warming, so spreading the 'truth' could be the next 'iraq hoax'.

NO THERE ISN'T. Even the furcking Republicans admit global warming is happening these days.
Slag off Gore all you want (certainly some of the statements in the film as shaky), but you can't seriously argue that the debate is still ongoing, it isn't.

and the debate about the causes is over. The vast majority of scientific journals support the view that climate change is being causes by human activity.
This is just the fallback position for people who spent years claiming that global warming isn't happening at all, until that view became untenable.

I'm actually quite for saving the environment, but not for running around spending HUGE amounts of cash on stuff that only buys certain people bigger houses and won't fix anything.
Better things would be a global fund that provides and monitor sufficient solutions.
Look a bit further then only your country and help the real polluting parts of the world like AMERICA, INDIA, CHINA, RUSSIA and/or eastern European country's.

the concept of the "debate" was invented by Neo-Cons and oil companies as part of a (now failed) strategy to stop them from having to do anything about it. In reality there is complete consensus among climatologists as to the human cause of global warming. The only people who now uphold the concept of this "debate" going on are a handful of conspiracy theory nutters and the like.

it's the beauty of the 24 hour news cycle in America, as long as you make the claim loudly enough, they'll move onto the next story without questioning your assertion in any detail.

even if it's all a sham, all this 'stop driving everywhere etc because of global warming', it's not a bad idea. Petrol's expensive and sharing lifts/using public transport makes good financial sense. If people don't want to make changes in their life for the alleged benefit of the planet and it's x-billion inhabitants, at least do it for the sake of your own wallet.
I'm sure I'm probably wrong or whatever.
