# as long as Watchmen
is good, I'm prepared to forgive Hollywood almost anything.

# Watchmen will probably be very good - I really hope it is
although I still reckon it'll bomb in widespread terms, especially with the US audience.

episode 7 is up and available fella :)
(, Wed 15 Oct 2008, 13:17, archived)
# Yes, you're right, it probably will bomb, shame to say.
But I'm gleeing like a big gleeing thing on a happy joy day at the prospect of seeing it up on the big screen.

I'm torrencasted up on it now, so the whole process is automatic. Yay for free US TV!

# With the US audience, the following goes against them:
They'll have only just got rid of Bush, they don't need to see President ***** on screen to remind them of the bad old days.
The ending - the big event that happens at the end may well be too much for the US, especially in light of past events
To appeal to the audience in this time of superheroes on screen, it'll be classed as a superhero movie. Audiences like to see 'super' powers. - and there's only one character out of many with an actual 'super' power.
It'll go off very quickly, like 300 did. Good for a couple of weeks, but not worth watching time and time again.
The fanboys will get all giddy up to release, then the internet will rip it to shreds on every. last. feckin. detail. The sheer 'nerd' factor will put people off as they will think they have to know the story to appreciate it.
The inevitable spoof movie of it a few months later.

# Most people will take one look and go
"That's just the X-Men in different clothes" and go and see whatever fucking sequel or remake is showing on the next screen

Incoming:

The Thing
Evil Dead
Suspiria (in the balance)
Cannibal Holocaust (I shit you not)
(, Wed 15 Oct 2008, 13:21, archived)
# Oh no...
They can't remake 'The Thing'.

That should be against the feckin LAW!

Edit: Best expression ever -

but add dialogue... and let Tim Burton direct them.

# Brett Ratner, surely?
He of the genius Rush Hour movies
(, Wed 15 Oct 2008, 13:27, archived)
# Brett Ratner = Genius!
Pierce Brosnan wanted him to direct casino Roayle! It would have so much better if he had, with PB as Bond...

Oh yes. It must.

Fuck off!

Deodato can't be that hard up for cash, can he?
(, Wed 15 Oct 2008, 13:32, archived)
# Well at least Deodato is doing it rather than
the usual Hollywood thing of sticking someone like Michael Mann or other such bollocks onto it!

its such a geek thing that there is no way it can be made without upsetting everyone... just look at the new star trek movie... all the trailer showed was a guy doing some welding and everyone went mental because it was being built on earth
