Apparebntly they are 're-imagining' the backstory.
In other words they are gonna take bits and bobs of the first three and make a new movie.
They are even changing how he got the mask.
FFS Hollywood! STOP IT!

Hollywood executives are a bunch of tossers who have the moral and artistic integrity of people who go to Cambodia for sexually touristic purposes...
SO - as someone who has both artistic AND moral integrity YOU are better qualified to know what makes a good film. Therefore, you should become a movie executive. The End.

They'll have only just got rid of Bush, they don't need to see President ***** on screen to remind them of the bad old days.
The ending - the big event that happens at the end may well be too much for the US, especially in light of past events
To appeal to the audience in this time of superheroes on screen, it'll be classed as a superhero movie. Audiences like to see 'super' powers. - and there's only one character out of many with an actual 'super' power.
It'll go off very quickly, like 300 did. Good for a couple of weeks, but not worth watching time and time again.
The fanboys will get all giddy up to release, then the internet will rip it to shreds on every. last. feckin. detail. The sheer 'nerd' factor will put people off as they will think they have to know the story to appreciate it.
The inevitable spoof movie of it a few months later.

Pierce Brosnan wanted him to direct casino Roayle! It would have so much better if he had, with PB as Bond...

its such a geek thing that there is no way it can be made without upsetting everyone... just look at the new star trek movie... all the trailer showed was a guy doing some welding and everyone went mental because it was being built on earth

- unfortunately a remake/re imagining of something old and safe like this is probably likely to make more money than a completely new film... so you might not last long as an executive... until you can convince the public that they don't want to see rehashed crap.

as long as enough stupid 14 year olds go in the first weekend that's good enough for them

the movie industry in America is not about making good films any more - it's about making something that's better than most the other shit that weekend. If you want a bigger budget release it in the summer or at Christmas... otherwise pick the week you're going to release on, work out how much on average you might make for that weekend, set your budget at half of that and BINGO you're making a movie.
