# Sod it...

All my own photos - one of the perks of writing your own book...

It's over 50kb, but it gets too fuzzy to read at 50.

# I know, but I can still feel the daggers...
There's someone, somewhere saying 'I've got broadband, but if I had dial-up....'
(, Sun 2 Nov 2008, 9:24, archived)
# I thought dial up was something they gave away free with broadband these days?
The restictions were actually later on for capped broadband but with the prices falling it's only effect those with smaller ADSL.
(, Sun 2 Nov 2008, 9:28, archived)
# My granny is still on dial-up
I don't think she browses b3ta though
(, Sun 2 Nov 2008, 9:29, archived)
# Wow!
That's gotta cost her more than ADSL!
(, Sun 2 Nov 2008, 9:30, archived)

EDIT: FUCK ME UP THE ARSE WITH MY OWN COCK!!! IT HAS!!

(, Sun 2 Nov 2008, 9:29, archived)
# Nope we were having a big debater about it for an hour or so on here last Sunday.
Then by the afternoon we'd been told it had changed.
To compensate though images will not reload when you refresh (so if you edit an image you'l have to change the filename).
And it now says that peas must go in existing threads.

# is the cache thing just for b3ta hosted images (or are things more complicated)
i think that is good.
(, Sun 2 Nov 2008, 9:34, archived)
# A little more complicated I seen to remember.

so they could still fit into the fibre optic cables to carry the information.

(, Sun 2 Nov 2008, 9:28, archived)
# Ah, they do the spine
Better than trying to guess how thick to make it. I just give them the colour and they print the text on it at binding.
(, Sun 2 Nov 2008, 9:32, archived)
# Hmm
Pied Wagtail I believe as your cover model, that's a saucy choice. Robin, Jackdaw and Greater Crested Grebe and erm Pink Billed er Ducky.

Can't fault it really, green and yellow are colours that the British associate with all things natural not sure about how that translates into other countries though.
(, Sun 2 Nov 2008, 9:28, archived)

He popped a magpie in tattyshop and pressed ctrl I:P

# Yeah
Daily Mail journalists mostly:D
(, Sun 2 Nov 2008, 9:33, archived)
# Ah, the translation into other countries is easy:
French: haw-he-haw-he-haw.
German: RAUS, RAUS! SCHNELL, SCHWEINHUND!
Dutch: Hurdy-gurdy.

Oh, hang on, I get you...

The birds are;
Front: White Wagtail Motacilla alba alba (The pied Wagtail is just the British variant).
Back (top to bottom): (European) Robin Always forget the scientific name; Red-crested Pochard Netta rufina; (Western) Jackdaw Corvus monedula and Great Crested Grebe Podiceps cristatus.

It actually scares me I can remember the scientific names...
(, Sun 2 Nov 2008, 9:31, archived)

# Nice, but
I'm not so sure about the way the pictures on the back share their border with the edge. Could they have the same yellow border as the front and the box on the lower back?

I guess on the full book, the cover will extend further into the fold that goes inside (whatever that is called).
(, Sun 2 Nov 2008, 9:39, archived)
# Ah, just a paperback.
It's not so easy to border the pictures all the way round because of the way they'll cut it - apparently there's a margin of error, so you have to bleed the cover. To get the whole thing inside the edges and safe, there wouldn't be enough room for the text.
(, Sun 2 Nov 2008, 9:43, archived)
# Excellent stuff
That will without fail end up on my desk to be added to our library, assuming your publisher sends it to us :)
