Hello all!
I am coming to terms with degenerative deafness. What are you all coming to terms with? And how are you?

Slowly realizing that I will apparently never rise out of retail hell, also rapid aging and the evil in the world in general.

have an ear squirting? not pleasant but may help?
I am SkUG, I live in wales, its boring, I am a social recluse, I used to love riding my bicycle but my leg bent the wrong way whilst walking up some stairs and it hurts to walk let alone cycle, I am becoming overweight, I have refused anti depressants that the doctor recommended because I know I am stronger than that, two of my fillings have cracked and there is not a dentist for 90 odd miles - teeth don't hurt yet, my car is about to fail its MOT as rust is setting in/bits falling off everyday, I have little/no motivation, I just learnt that one of band members of Pantera was shot on stage and this has upset me. I want to say "I want to go home" but I live here

I'm fine. Coming to terms with my lifespan being most likely half over (if not more) and whatever I'm going to achieve in life, I've probably already done.

I have come to therms with my 70% controled epylepsia, which made my left arm and leg progressivelly useless, and the facts that in the future my kids will get it from my genes (along with dentinogenese imperfecta, and who knows what else).
But I still have problems with shaving foam :^P

But on my 40th birthday, I was diagnosed with Macular Degeneration. This is normally an age-related thing not seen in people under 60 (lucky me, I'm always the most sprightly looking person in the specialist's waiting room), and within the past year, I've gone from having an irritating black spot in my area of focussed vision to being unable to read, or see ANYTHING out of that eye, apart from having peripheral vision.
So, I'm half deaf, half blind, and keep telling myself things can't really get worse. But I'm scared that they will and I'll end up blind in both eyes, which frightens me greatly.
So if you see any spots in your vision, for facks' sake, get thee to a Dr for a checkup.
:( finished now, going away to be sad.
