so many zombie films
if you haven't already... see Dance of the Dead it is quite good :)

Yes, I enjoyed that one muchly.
However my housemate preferred Night of the Living Dorks, and my girlfriend liked the stupid Samantha Mumba 'Boy Eats Girl' better. They're all teeny zombie flicks but nowhere near as good as Dance of the Dead.

We've had a few good chats
about these films in the past and I'm sure you remember that I think 99% of them are pants.
But I'd be interested in your take on the whole Quarantine / REC thing.

REC is amazing.
Don't want to see Quarantine on principle really. I mean, a shot-for-shot remake just because the original had subtitles? Good grief, do they think we're all morons, or is that just for the Americans...

I'm not a big fan of any of the
shaky, hand-held camera stuff, especially when it's pitched to me in a way that I'm expected to believe it's a true event. However I enjoyed REC ( I never shy from subs and my Spanish is ok enough to watch the likest of El Orfanato and El laberinto del fauno without them )
REC was quite good having said that but still not WOW enough for me. I can't get my head around the 'Dark and shaky' concept, makes me feel that the script must be weak and they have to employ gimmicks to bolster it.
As for quarantine? Yes you are correct. I could not understand the point.
edit:// apologies for the delay responding. I had a house full of kids descend upon me.

I rilly don't get zombie flicks
They're the rubbishest of baddies - defence is "Walk away quickly from them."
Obviously 28 days later made them a bit better, but they're still pretty rubbish.

Nah, you can only walk so much
then you need to sleep, eat, toilet. They can just keep on coming at you in larger numbers... They'll get you eventually.
/edit : 28 days later aren't zombies....

28 days later are zombies. come on - play clever.
And, with the use of one car and a full tank of petrol, you can get out of the way of zombies.

Not really.
I would say that it is a zombie film just without the Zombies. Hence why I have included the film in my blog. (Well, 28 months later anyway).
Same goes for Evil Dead. Not zombies.

I watched Doomsday

It did not make it any better ;)

the real horror of zombies is that there's always more of them
the don't sleep, ever. you can walk quickly away but they'll still follow you. even if you cross to an island they'll follow. zombies are scary because you can't kill all of them.
read World War Z. best portrayal of real life zombie apocalypse ever.
and fast zombies are shit.

So ... how come you never see them driving, or flying planes?
Zombie banger racing or something? Zombie Ultimate Fighting Challenge. Zombie Olympics?
How come zombies don't eat other zombies?
How come ...
Oh it's just too silly for me, I'm sorry.
I far prefer computers that mess with your sense of reality then break, and you don't know whats real or not, and so when you find yourself killing someone don't know whether to worry about being done for murder or not.

part the first: zombies retain basic motor functions and instincts
swimming is instinct, driving isn't.
part the second, zombies eat living flesh, perhaps they seek living flesh because it passes the contagion. viruses only exist to self perpetuate like the rest of us.
part the third: yeah those movies are cool too. check out cypher

Hmmm.
Seems vere silly.
All one would really need is to find a military base to live on, then. Basic motor functions don't include how to get over an anti-climb fence.

if they keep decaying then all you have to do is just wait them out.

Provided you can get somewhere safe to wait it out,
and have supplies and stuff then you're probably right. But nobody ever gets to that situation in the movies.

well it wouldn't make a great movie if they did would it :)
land of the dead is set long enough after the original outbreak that you'd expect the majority to be decayed beyond threat.
though i don't consider that movie Romero canon. as they decay they get smarter... hmm..

Zombie Flesh Eaters is the best film overall.
Zombie Lake is ace for it's sheer Eurohorror awfulness and OTT nudity.
Plus there's Braindead obviously.

Dunno really
but I read in an Empire feature that those 2 guys don't even like horror movies. I hate people who star in horror films and then pretend they're actually something else. What's wrong with horror?

I keep watching old horror films and hearing clips that I recognise from White Zombie songs.
Like 'I know the supernatural is something that isn't supposed to happen, but it does happen...'.
I wonder if i'll ever see all the films they took the quotes from?
