# The Wire is a very good television programme.

# Problem is, Omar hasn't been in it on BBC 2 yet, so nobody is going to know what you're on about.
(, Wed 1 Apr 2009, 13:21, archived)
# I know who Omar is
as I've been forced to watch clips of TheFriggingWire.

# No, I found it boring. The writing in the episode I've seen was very
middle-of-the-road. I'd probably be more inclined to give it more of a chance if people would stop foaming at the crotch every time it's mentioned, but then I'm a difficult wench like that.
(, Wed 1 Apr 2009, 13:26, archived)
# I felt similar about the first couple of episodes when I watched it, but it really starts coming together into an intriguing story after a few episodes.
It definitely isn't perfect, some of the characterisation of females in particular isn't that great, but I do maintain it's the best television drama I've ever seen.
(, Wed 1 Apr 2009, 13:29, archived)
# From what I've seen of people recently
it looks to be one of those flash-in-the-pan things. It's the best thing ever NOW, but then people said that about the Beatles and that wasn't ever true, not even at the time.

IMO, obviously.
(, Wed 1 Apr 2009, 13:31, archived)
# It's 7 years old...
...and by far the best TV drama this millenium.
(, Wed 1 Apr 2009, 13:38, archived)
# How long's it been over here?
It's really not. But then, that's just my opinion.
(, Wed 1 Apr 2009, 13:39, archived)
# It's been on FX for a couple of years I think.
I saw the first series about three years ago on DVD.
(, Wed 1 Apr 2009, 13:40, archived)
# Everyone should have got over it then *shrug*
sorry, in my opinion it's a pile of shite. End.
(, Wed 1 Apr 2009, 13:42, archived)
# I agree with you.
formulaic Yankee trash. I'd rather watch the beast. And I'd rather poke my eyes out with a rusty spork than watch the beast.

Breaking bad is where it's at these days.

# Pah, everyone is going Wireless these days
And I can reveal that last night's post about subscriptions was an April Fool's. I can tell by the comments I fooled a lot of you!

# Without using spoilers, do you reckon i'd like The Wire,
considering i love Lost and Prison Break?
(, Wed 1 Apr 2009, 13:24, archived)
# I do
But it's far deeper than either of those. It's probably more like a novel in that you can't dip in and out and still grasp the story. Crucial things happen off camera and are alluded to, etc. You really need to watch every episode with minimal gap between them.
(, Wed 1 Apr 2009, 13:26, archived)
# I'll give it a go then cheers
I'm one of those who watches a whole season of something over a few days anyway :)

# apparentl;y
there is some form of image challenge whereby you are to find some instructions via the medium of google images and then alter them somehow in order to make them funny.

Not that you could tell from most of the entries.

As always the only thing challenging about the compo seems to be reading the fucking instructions.
(, Wed 1 Apr 2009, 13:26, archived)
# :(
I quite like this compo.

Yes there have been some crap ones, but there's also been a lot of very strong hummus IMHO.

...nothing at all to do with the fact that I'm winning it ;)
(, Wed 1 Apr 2009, 13:30, archived)
# nothing against the challenge per se
just the fact that people latch on to a keyword ( instructions lol ) then proceed to post or worse, repost something totally unrelated to what's been asked of them. And they are serious.

websense - tits to the thing.

# The wire is crap
They only say one word through out the entire program, fuck.
(, Wed 1 Apr 2009, 13:23, archived)
# Did you watch one second in which someone did say fuck and then extrapolate?
(, Wed 1 Apr 2009, 13:24, archived)
# No, i have watched two episodes. They were both dull as well
(, Wed 1 Apr 2009, 13:26, archived)
# I sincerely hope you're joking.
It is one of the best pieces of television to have ever been aired.
But, that said, it's my opinion, so only of value to me, I guess.

Let's say rather that it's worth your time spent watching.
(, Wed 1 Apr 2009, 13:27, archived)
# I am giving it a go, but i'm just finding it dull and flat
(, Wed 1 Apr 2009, 13:29, archived)
# Stick with it, sir
It's worth it.
(, Wed 1 Apr 2009, 13:30, archived)
[challenge entry] I wouldn't normally
pearost crap images for the competition. But the board is so full of fail today I felt I had to do something - however poor - to improve it even a tiny bit.

And I'm all out of hummus.
