I generally have to turn off anything electronic in my room at night, as I can hear them when they are on standby... No one else can seem to hear the highpitched whine that these things make though...

How the hell does she know this? Surely some sort of low freq measurement should be taken, if she indicates that the pitch varies at the same time as the device measures the variance she's not mental. End of story. What a stupid article.

again - nobody could hear it, but when I reported it to the council, they replaced a part they identified as faulty and the humming reduced.
The rest of it might simply be a lamppost further away.
This lady might well be imagining it, but I know I experience it, and only where I live.
I don't expect its military activity or anything like that, probably something far more mundane
