# I'm re reading A Cooks Tour by Tony Bourdain
it's FUCKING AWESOME... I want to go all the places he goes and eat the things he eats... nom nom nom... he's just been to Vietnam and eaten whole small deep fried birdies (spit out the feet)... a soft boiled hen embryo from in the egg... the still beating heart of a live cobra... and noodle soup.
(, Fri 22 May 2009, 10:37, archived)
# I'm really strange with things like this. If I know what I'm eating, I'm fine but there are a few items that are certainly off my menu.
I'd love to sample the still beating cobra heart and enjoy trying as many things as possible, but a chicken embryo doesn't appeal for some reason.

I was just given a box of spiced "chicken" with sunflower leaves and red pepper sauce. Ate a piece and it was strange. Rubbery - not right. I asked questions and was told that it's a big box of chicken feet. So unexpected, and I wasn't prepared. Feel a little weird now.

How was Vietnam? I'd love to travel round there.

# yeah - chicken feet sounds a little not great
... although all the very best foods are made from the worst bits of meat... you don't have to try very hard with steak which is why they just warm it a bit and bring it out but rotten goats meat needs to be overpowered with chilli and lime and coconut and all sorts of great things which is how we get curry \o/

I'll be in Nam in August - I'll report back
