I just checked imdb,
I didn't realise he had also written Drilbit Taylor, which I thought was a pretty good film. He wrote it under another name though apparently.

Don't expect something amazing,
and if you dislike Owen Wilson, you won't like it. But it has a few laugh out loud moments and is an enjoyable enough way to spend a couple of hours.

The man behind Ferris Bueller, Breakfast Club, Home Alone, Weird Science, Curly Sue.
Name an '80s film, he probably had a hand in it.

I just read that too :(
Although they won't challenge Citizen Kane in the best cinema of all time, I always enjoyed his films :(

RIP John!
My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw him pass out at 31 Flavors last night.
I guess it was pretty serious.
(edit: ferris bueller was one of very few videos we had in the house growing up, so it got heavy viewing)
