Mid week Manchester mini-bash anyone?

I'm being carted off to Manchester for work. It's either sit in a hotel room like a hopeless loser, or meet some weirdos off the internet. Tough choice, but the latter wins by a considerable margin.

I'm a Manchester novice so any suggestions welcome, preferably not too far from where I'm staying so I can find my way back. Honestly, I have the directional instincts of a blind homing pigeon. With Parkinson's Disease.

*EDIT* thanks to bearpookie for venue suggestion - looks ideal (and slap bang next to my hotel so I won't get lost)!

Most local pubs are the Holts' ones.

The Old Monkey, or the Ape and Apple are ok.

it's hot on the heels of the 'lost weekend' bash+beerfestival on the 10/11th. and it's mid-week. and i live an hour away

That's the day I'm back from Barcelona.
I might be too tired/less than bothered, but I might pop along.

I'll probably be the youngest there. Apart from rosalicious.
