Edinburgh - bashing it old-skool

A polite gathering of us old cunts. Perhaps we might meet some young cunts too!

Suitably vague arrangment. Suggestions welcome for venues. Queen's Arms? Bailey? Nowhere overly studenty, thanks.

this sounds interesting

I can't come out and play until after Mr V gets home from work at 7.30pm. I have no idea where the Queen's Arms is. I know it's the wrong side of town for you Alex, but that new bloke (writer's block) lives on Easter Road and drinks at the Iona Bar. I've never been there, dunno if that would be suitable?

Never been either. Most Easter Road pubs look fairly terrifying.

The Queens Arms is on Frederick Street.

oh hang on, I do know the Queen's Arms!

there's not very good mobile coverage in there, and it's where my chocolate nipples made their debut

i have perfect knowledge of the terrifying pubs

i've been recommended the pond

at the bottom of leith walk. they have nice beers, apparently

(, Sun 22 Jan 2006, 21:43, Reply)
more like

in a very scary location off the bottom of the bottom of leith walk ... but a good bar all the same

(salamander street i think, near the old docks buildings and warehouses and anomalous new flats)

(, Mon 23 Jan 2006, 13:29, Reply)
Salamander Street is where the prostitutes are these days

I'd rather not go there...

(, Mon 23 Jan 2006, 14:09, Reply)
Ah. Fair point.

Good bar, though.

A couple of other suggestions - Boda (Swedish bar on Leith Walk) or my current fave local, the Star Bar in a hidden corner of the New Town?

(, Mon 23 Jan 2006, 20:20, Reply)
