This is a normal post I have to confess to mixed feelings on this one.
I'm very much in the 'citizen not subject' camp, though I think the monarchy serves a useful purpose for tourism, selling newspapers etc.
I think most of the peripheral family serve no useful function, and the civil list should be axed, and yet I can't help having a soft spot for Queenie, and think Prince Philip's complete lack of tact is hilarious.
Add to this the fact that the miserable cow who wrote this is taking it all too seriously and I think I'd rather share a piece of Battenburg with some Union Flag hatted neighbours than spend an evening with the woman at the top of the article who looks like she's just necked a pint of lemon juice.
TL:DR: I met the Queen once. She's tiny and never takes her gloves off.

I have no problem with the immediate family and have no desire to get rid of them. They don't have any impact on my life. I don't think I'd be able to say the same about an elected president.
