This is a normal post I know its an onion vid but
I just wanted to take this opportunity say that one of my pet peeves is the misuse of the term 'firing' when referring to archery. There is no gunpowder or fire involved. You cannot fire an arrow with a bow. You can loose it or shoot it. Anyone who says otherwise is dead wrong and boils my piss.

Words can, and do, have multiple meanings. You can fire someone from a job, fire someone's imagination, fire a lot of questions or even have a fire in your belly without involving gunpowder or fire. The meaning for an ardent passion predates the discharge of a weapon by at least one hundred years... both predate the word "pedantry".

This is a normal post These uses of the word fire are not quite the same as with archery
because shooting and arrow from a bow is very very similar to firing a bullet from a gun. Which is why I think it annoys me, because I feel that people see one thing and the other and think it's the same. But one involves actual fire and the other doesn't. I accept that any word can mean anything you like and I'm with you in probably every other case. It's just in this one case, it boils my piss.
