Just change them to Little Gems
Or get rid of them entirely; they’re hard and generally taste awful.

The loudest voices say they prefer 'little person'
Like they used to say disabled people preferred 'special'. If I was a midget and someone called me a 'little person' I'd smash their fucking teeth in with a brick.
OK, half a brick.

Achrondroplasia Gems isn't tripping off the tongue.
I'd like Vegemite to take over the Marmite brand and rename it, just to watch the outrage.

Pygmy Gems?
There are pygmy pot-bellied pigs, and I don't hear the vertically challenged from the deep rainforest objecting.

I don't really get it.
If one wishes to be rude, abusive or insulting to someone, on the basis of their membership of some minority, one has the whole English language to work with.
It's a playground tradition to find creative new ways to be a nasty little shit, while technically complying with the letter of the rules.
Banning a particular word doesn't take away the human impulse to express insult to others, it merely accelerates the rate at which the language of insults evolves.
