A combined income of £228,000 (more than that when you take into account things like speaking engagements, dividends, etc), no mortgage, no kids, and Dic here feels that a £60k car and a £140,000 motorhome might have been potentially unaffordable?
I'd love to know what the £12k 'unspecified tech purchase from Apple' was, though. That's suspiciously close to the price Apple was asking for a fully specced-out M2 Mac Pro. He certainly seems like the sort of twat that would buy an enterprise-grade workstation for checking his Gmail.

Combined income of £228k. Take about half that for tax, so call it about £110k per year spendable. You wouldn't have to save for very long to afford them outright, assuming they weren't bought on finance.

Of course, anyone earning that amount isn’t taking anything like all of that home. They’re maxing-out pension contributions and the like to limit the tax impact.
