From the thread below, I'm intrigued to see people's routes to work on their bike. Here's mine, generally flat and about 11.3 miles. Bastard hill on the way home though...

(though the 'work out calories' is obviously bollocks)
Last year I was doing a lot of cycling & I was sad enough to get home and input every route. Sort of related, my brother's trying to convince me to cycle Land's End to John O'Groats, which sounds fun; but he wants to do it without any training, which doesn't.
(also- what link below?)

It's indeed great, but I think the calories thing is based on it being a pedometer, i.e. walking, so when it's reporting 8000ish for a 50 mile "ride" it might be about right if you walked that maybe?

Either your paedometer is bust or you cycle around /talk.

there's so many variables, from body-make up, type of bike to terrain &c. that it's impossible to accurately work out.
Still, probably best not to obsess about calories anyway.

Almost exactly 10 miles each way:

2800 calories? I doubt it. Great site though, hadn't seen it before.
This is a crazy 200 mile ride I've got lined up in Sweden next month:

29000 calories, lol.

I think it's got itself a bit confused, it's relatively flat there. I'm guessing it's because I go down a couple of small cycle lanes.

is that the overnight round the lake jobbie? was talking to someone about it a few weeks back - i assumed as it's round a lake it'd be pretty flat. apparently not, so i'm going to stick to the Dunwich Dynamo because I'm a wuss. And only have one gear.

Yes, it's the Vätternrundan. We've got a 10.30pm starting slot, will cycle through the night, see the sunrise and push on to around 1pm ish. There's 20000 people doing it, should be 'fun'

It does feel a bit knackering TBH, but doesn't really look it.

or Waterloo I find! Shame SportyPal doesn't take stopping at traffic lights into account but these are some stats for a similar ride sportypal.com/Workouts/Details/961513?key=65c2204df441788898db5163d302d0321bb901e5&ms=1

2795 calories though? That not even close to accurate. Nice and hilly though.

Though I can't get the route to stick to the roads.
Which is vexing.
I really like the linking up of OS & googlemaps.
