This is a normal post I'm going to buck against the trend here a little bit.
I think it would've been better just to leave them there, it's costing £81m to move them and they have nowhere to go. At least when they were there they were there, now they're going to be on other people's property and probably damaging it.

But they did have bloody ages to argue their case.

I'm most likely ill informed and an art student, which puts me on par with gypsies.

This is a normal post They were offered council accomodation which they refused to take
No matter what side of the political fence you stand, there has to be a point where the law applies and people have to face the consequences of their actions.

This is a normal post Unless you are an MP
or a lord, or a member of the royal family, or rich, or a senior banker, or a senior financier. Other than that you should face the consequences.

This is a normal post Agreed
but it doesn't legitimise what these people have done

This is a normal post They were offered a plot the other side of the road yesterday.
They said they'd move peacefully to it but it would take a few days.

I do agree that one rule for one and one for another isn't on but in this case I don't see what harm they were really doing there - a part from the usual harm that gypsies do anywhere. They're just going to go and screw up some other place and probably be even more disruptive than they would've been

There isn't enough places for travellers to live is what this all boils down to, until that gets sorted there's just going to be more of this shit.

This is a normal post That's my stance.
Too many people seems to have a really strong opinion about a pretty impersonal font.

This is a normal post At the risk of playing Devil's Avocado:
Some of those people have been living at Dale Farm for ten years- at what point do they lose the appellation "travellers"?
(, Wed 19 Oct 2011, 14:39, Reply)
This is a normal post it's
a legally recognised defintion of ethnic origin and as such can be racially discriminated against.

so to put into context to say all travellers are dishonest and chancers is no different to saying all blacks are lazy

It's been a while since I've been a volunteer at eh CAB but Im pretty sure the law still stands on this one
(, Wed 19 Oct 2011, 17:41, Reply)
This is a normal post Well that may be the case but I see it as a chosen lifestyle still.
But even if "traveller" is a race does any race race have the right to ignore U.k law?
Can we see the practice of female circumcision being allowed because it's culturally significant to a group?

This is a normal post yep cos thats fair...
when if i want to modify my property i have to get permission from the council...

and theres a fucking camp load of pikies who dont have to do the same?
(, Wed 19 Oct 2011, 14:26, Reply)
This is a normal post I'd be all up for moving them if it hadn't taken this long.
If the labour government kicked them out when they first started moving onto that plot then it wouldn't have cost so much and maybe they would've had somewhere else to live by now.

It's not fair that ordinary people can't live by the same rules but how do you tackle something like Gypsies? They're a problem and they don't abide by the rules whoever no one really seems willing to truly stand up to them so they're going to get away with all this shit constantly.

Dale farm is the symptom not the problem and I personally believe that moving them out is going to make things worse. Harrow's already spent laods of money fucking up it's road side to stop them living on it.

This is a normal post Maybe if the police didn't move them on all the time (usually within 24 hours) they'd be more up for travelling.

This is a normal post DaftScrawl could never affoard something as plush as a shed.
This has nothing to do with my opinion on pikeys, I hate them they're thieves and they do nothing but make people uncomfortable.

So why not keep them in their stupid little draw bridge community instead of throwing them back out to where they'll stay on the mini round about of my local train station, pinch shit from people's gardens and probably be even more violent because now they actually feel like someone has wronged them.

Keep them there, burn it to the ground, job done.

This is a normal post You should get your self a shed
one of the happiest days of my life was getting my shed. Up there with becoming a father, getting married, getting divorced etc. Still miss that shed, she was beauty. 8 by 6 pre treated pine.

I think troll is slightly extreme but I can see what you're getting at...

I genuinely believe that maybe it is just best to leave them there because they're less likely to fuck up other people's lives. But I will admit I do like starting discussions.

Also if you're going to a small butchers and not a supermarket ask him about the "specials" and wink when you do.

You'll either get
Something that tastes amazing but illegal.
Something that's not normally sold because people won't buy it but again tastes amazing.
Human meat.
A date..... then becoming human meat.

Working in a butchers for year was a bloody eye opener for me.
